(MONTGOMERY)—Attorney General Luther Strange announced the passage today of more bills in his legislative package, with the final approval of House Bill 99 regarding sham legal proceedings, and Senate Bill 91 which creates the crime of disarming a law enforcement or corrections officer. The two bills passed both chambers of the legislature without a dissenting vote and now go to the Governor for his signature.
House Bill 99 sponsored by Rep. Randy Wood will protect law enforcement and Alabamians from sham legal proceedings. Attorney General Strange included this bill in his legislative package upon the strong recommendation of members of law enforcement to fight such efforts to intimidate or hinder officers in the discharge of their duties.

April 5, 2012 – Montgomery, Ala. – The Alabama House passed SB 283 today, reforming the coverage requirements for children who are on the Autism Spectrum. This legislation will coincide with an industry decision to triple the amounts of speech and occupational therapy available to children with Autism. It also provides more access to Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy, which can foster basic skills such as looking, listening and imitating, as well as complex skills such as reading, conversing and understanding another person’s perspective.
May 3, 2012 – Montgomery, Ala. – The Alabama Legislature passed House Bill 518 yesterday, creating The Alabama Public Interest Energy and Fuel Research and Development Grants Program. The grants program will be administered by The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, and the Center for Alternative Fuels, under Commissioner John McMillan. This legislation was the developed by the Senate Oversight Committee on Energy, and sponsored by Representative Greg Wren and Senator Cam Ward.

Ward Pushes Alabama Digital Crime Act
MONTGOMERY, AL, (February 29, 2012)- State Senator Cam Ward and Representative Paul DeMarco announced that they will introduce legislation today to overhaul the criminal code in Alabama as it pertains to criminal activity committed online and through the internet. The bill, known as the Alabama Digital Crime Act, was the result of work carried out by the Alabama District Attorneys Association and other law enforcement agencies throughout the state.

In a recent meeting of the Permanent Joint Legislative Committee on Energy, Representative Greg Wren (R- Montgomery) was elected Chairman and Senator Cam Ward (R-Alabaster) was elected as Vice-Chairman for 2011-2014.
Additional Members of the Joint Energy Committee include Representative Chad Fincher, Representative Jim Barton, Representative Alan Boothe, Representative Johnny Mack Morrow, Representative Mac McCutcheon Representative Oliver Robinson, Senator Arthur Orr, Senator Gerald Allen, Senator Tom Whatley, Senator Ben Brooks, Senator William Beasley, Senator Greg Reed, and Senator Tammy Irons.
Jemison, Al.- State Senator Cam Ward announced two grants for Jemison Middle School today. The grants totaled $5,000 and will be used to purchase new equipment for the school’s library and special education departments.
Mr. Michael Staggs, who teaches in the special education department at Jemison Middle School, requested a grant to further development the school’s robotic program. This has been an ongoing project for Mr. Staggs who hopes to develop this program into a state of the art opportunity for his students.
Montgomery, Al.- The Alabama Interagency Autism Coordinating Council (AIACC) completed a strategic plan for further development of the AIACC. The AIACC was created by the Alabama Legislature in 2008 through legislation known as the Riley Ward Act. The purpose of the Act was to coordinate the state’s system of care for Alabama families living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Strategic Plan of the AIACC presents the adopted value statements as well as the 6 core goals that will direct future development of the AIACC. The goals for the Alabama Interagency Autism Coordinating Council are-
(WEST BLOCTON, ALABAMA)—State Senator Cam Ward (R-Alabaster) presented $6,000 in state education grants today to West Blocton High School Principal Doug Milligan and Coach Greg Farnetti. The grants were requested earlier this year after Senator Ward visited the school on his annual education tour throughout the district.
